Fees

Nearly everyone wants to know how much an attorney will charge before making the first phone call. To help clients get answers to that question I’ve listed my fees below.

$300 Hourly Rate

Some clients need a family law attorney to litigate in family court or simply draft the required forms. When I act as an attorney I charge an hourly rate of $300 per hour. Like any family law attorney, I charge an initial retainer and bill against that retainer as I work on the case.

Flat Fee – Mediation & Document Preparation

Some couples want to settle their case outside of family court, or simply need a lawyer to draft the required forms. When I serve as a mediator or just draft the required forms I charge a flat fee.

To receive a quote for document preparation call my office at (916) 270-6880.

Mediation Flat Fee

Mediation can save couples thousands of dollars in attorney fees. Instead of litigating their issues in family court, couples sit down in meditation with a neutral mediator and negotiate child support, spousal support, property division, and custody. When agreements have been reached on all issues the mediator drafts the required legal documents to formalize those agreements for filing in court.

$200 – First Mediation Consultation

I charge a flat fee of $200 for the first mediation consultation. During the consultation, I will explain the mediation process, sign the mediation agreement and calendar our future meetings.

$300 – Mediation Session

During each meditation session, we will work on coming to agreements with respect to outstanding issues such as property division. Couples who don’t get along well or have significant assets may take several sessions to negotiate their issues.

$1,800 – Document Preparation

If you and your spouse don’t require mediation or have finalized mediation and need an attorney to formalize those agreements in the required legal forms, I offer document preparation for a flat fee.

  • $300 – Divorce Petition
  • $200 – Financial Disclosure
  • $800 – Marital Settlement Agreement
  • $500 – Final Judgment Packet

$3,000 Flat Fee Mediation

Some clients want to begin mediation with the comfort of a flat fee rather than pay-as-you-go sessions. To help these clients feel comfortable with mediation I offer a flat fee mediation package that includes the initial meeting, document preparation, and up to 5 hours of mediation.
